National School Lunch Week
October 14-18, 2024
Learning is tough work—and kids need fuel if they’re going to learn! That’s why a healthy midday meal is crucial to the growing children who go to school. Since 1962, when President John F. Kennedy created National School Lunch Week, this annual observance has promoted the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child’s life and the impact it has both in and out of the classroom.
The Importance of School Lunch:
Even though National School Lunch Week was declared in 1962, the National School Lunch Program goes back even further, back to 1946. Created to provide nutritious meals to children from low-income families who might not otherwise have access to a daily meal, NSLP ensures the health and well-being of all public school students, boosts academic performance by giving students the fuel they need to succeed, and closes the opportunity gap for children across the country. Today, the National School Lunch Program serves nearly 30 million children every school day. Not only does it reduce childhood hunger, but it also supports American agriculture.
Ahoy, lunch lovers! Did you discover today’s treasure in the cafeteria? Share your favorite school lunch with us! 🥪✨ #SchoolLunchPirates #NSLW24
¡A la vista, amigos! ¡Solo faltan unos días para que comience la Semana Nacional del Almuerzo Escolar! Es hora de prepararse para una semana llena de búsquedas del tesoro y comidas sabrosas. 🌟🍎 #SchoolLunchPirates #NSLW24

The Minatare High School Cheerleaders are raising money for travel and competition costs for the Heartland Championship in Lincoln in January and State Cheer in Grand Island in February.

From the Afterschool Program! Dear Parents/Guardians, Tomorrow, October 3rd, the Afterschool program will be walking over to the high school for the Varsity Volleyball Game at 5pm. We ask that you please send your child in a Minatare Shirt. We also ask that you pick up your child at 5:30pm from the high school. Concessions will be available but at your expense. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out. Thank you, Mrs. Main, Miss Ashley, Miss Jewel

This is a free event for the public and a good opportunity for the kids to be able to get up close to heavy equipment and trucks and allows them to ask questions about the operation of the equipment and to be able to climb up into the cab of the equipment. We will also have a rock painting booth, bounce houses, and a sand pile. The event will be this coming Saturday from 10 am-1pm.
