Yesterday, four Minatare FFA members competed in Range Judging. The objective is for participants to better understand rangeland ecological systems in order to make proper management decisions. Fun Fact: Rangelands cover nearly 50% of Nebraska and approximately 60% of the United States.

Update on Junior High Volleyball from South Platte: Both A and B Jr High teams won in to sets. A : 25 - 10 and 25 - 1 B: 25 - 10 and 25 - 23 AND Chloe Montgomery broke the old record of 18 serves and now holds the new record of 22 serves in a row!!!!! Yesterday morning, several Minatare FFA members attended the Westco Field Day. They learned about roots, corn, farming equipment, ruminant animals, and much more! In the afternoon, members went to the Panhandle Research and Extension Center in Scottsbluff, NE where they were able to attend sessions on ag economics, range plants, soil, robotics, plant pathogens, livestock management, water/irrigation, and parliamentary procedure. They were also able to tour the research feedlot. A BIG thank you to all that were involved!

August 15, 2024 Dear Student and Parents of Minatare High School, We are excited to host our 6th grade orientation this evening at 5:30 pm and open house from 6:00 pm –7:00 pm. The building remodel is nearing completion and we are striving to achieve the functionality of our office spaces as we kick off a new school year. With the changes that were made to improve the safety and security of the building, there will be a few changes I would like to communicate as we move into the school year. The southwest door (with the ramp) will now become the main door for high school students, parents, and patrons. The southeast entrance will be reserved for the district office. The front doors will be unlocked and patrons may enter and report to the window. At that time, it will be determined whether they need to enter the building further and they will be buzzed in through the new second door. If there is not a person at the window, students and patrons may press the buzzer similar to how the system functioned in the past on the exterior doors. This portion of the construction project is still under development and we appreciate your patience as we navigate this in the coming days. The high school offices including principal, counselor, and secretary have been relocated downstairs where Mr. Foster’s classroom was previously. Mr. Foster has moved upstairs to occupy the space where the high school office and teacher’s lounge was previously located. The classroom where Ms. Alvord was located has moved to the flex room, and the superintendent and bookkeeper, along with a new conference room, is now located in Ms. Alvord’s old classroom. The old superintendent office will become a teacher’s lounge and storage. We are excited to show off the new spaces and updates. However, this evening those spaces are not quite ready to be shown off. The building is ready to host students for school tomorrow and teachers are ready to get the 2024-2025 school year started tomorrow! See you all this evening!
