Mrs. Grote's class has spent the last 21 days watching over our incubator eggs and waiting for them hatch. We learned how the embryo changes from the first heartbeat to hatching day. These chicks will go home to live in Mrs. Wolf's chicken coup!

For over a month, Mrs. Grote's kindergarten class has worked hard to earn a special visit. During our recent farm unit, we learned how important irrigation is for local crops. This afternoon, we got to see one of Grote Excavation's ditch cleaning machines.

Mrs. Grote's kindergarten celebrated the culmination of our farm unit today with a "Farm to Table" morning. We used heavy whipping cream to make butter. It took a LOT of shaking! Next, we ground wheat berries to make flour. Then we used the flour to make bread. We had to be patient while the yeast made the dough rise. It smelled so good while it was baking. Finally, we got to taste the rewards of our labor!

Mrs Grote's Kindergarten class and the 6th graders had two special visitors this morning. Kindergarten has been learning all about farm animals. Tim and Bayleigh Lacy brought in lambs and shared information about sheep with the classes. The kids even had the opportunity to pet the lambs and feel the texture of their wool.
